As I traveled through some of my Special Sites I came across this. It's well over a year and a half old but I believe that it speaks for itself. There are times that you know when you found a true friend ... especially when they go into danger even when they don't have to.
The Captain's Journal » On Patrol with Marines in Afghanistan:
"Corporal William Ash, a squad leader from 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), along with a stray dog lead a patrol through a city in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. When the platoon moved into the area, they found two stray dogs, and each time the Marines head out on patrol the dogs are right at the Marines’ side."
Tough and hard-charge-gen with a few soft spots.
A US Marine seems to make a few special friends no matter where they go.
Kuckle-draggers ... I just loves my Knuckle-draggers.
Hugs ... Prayers for One and All.

I saw the sweetest reunion on TV recently... a dog was reunited with his soldier. The dog had saved his life by warning him and his troops of a sucide bomber.
You don't always pick the dog...but the dog will always pick his own person when given the chance.
