Sad News today.
When I walked into my condo to continue working on the "punch" list, I did my normal thing of yelling out "Hey, [w]Ho Tat, Ma-ma is here."
Upon entering the kitchen, I noticed that her carrier's door was nearly closed but she usually would push it open with either her head or her paw but that wasn't done.
As I turned to go to the corner in the living room where she would usually curl up and take a nap was when I spotted her lying in the only cabinet that didn't have its door attached.
When I bent over to pick her up that's when I noticed a pool of yellowish liquid under her head and shoulders. As I touched her I felt the stiffness of her body.
My "aggravating" companion for the last 15 years finally succumbed to the stress of the lightening strike/fire and all that was happening afterward.
Best Bud dug a small grave for me.
I said my "Thank-yous" and asked God to keep an eye on her.
She is now resting a few feet from Grady with the Rose bush between them and within twenty feet of my front door.
I will be looking for a nice large rock maybe from the pond to use as a marker.

Oh Miss Em, I'm so, so sorry. I know how loved pets are. They aren't even pets, they are family members. Lots of love and hugs from me.
I am so sorry for the lost of your "Fur Baby".
Ohhh, hugs Miss Em. ...it's so heartbreaking when we lose our our furry buddies.
Sending hugs
Pax
Thank you everyone your thoughts are very comforting right now.

So sorry for your loss. She'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge....
I just got to where I could read some post and I saw this. So sorry, Miss Em. I had to put down my best buddy, Chaplin, so I know how empty you feel without your friend. Hugs, darling!
randompawes ... I know. Thank you.
Coffeypot...Thank you for the {{HUGS}}.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that our critters become family, and it hurts a bunch when they go. Hang in there.
Thank you "JJ". I keep tryin, but still find myself looking for her when I enter the door. Strange how the mind just won't let go even when it knows that she isn't there any more.
Ma'am, I send my most earnest and heartfelt condolences to you. If it's any consolation, I was moved by reading that to go out and look for my old kitteh, who is coming up on 16 years old. I yelled for him, and when I was heading back in, he came up behind me, as if to say, "What's the big deal, human?"
He is now chowing down on a combination of Purina Senior Formula, bacon grease and water, and Friskies Classic Salmon Pate.
Thanks for reminding me to look out for my kitteh, and I have sent prayers to Saint Francis for both of them, though I'm a thoroughgoing Protestant. (in an Anglican kind of way)
